Aircraft warning light application guide

Application Guide

Aircraft warning lights will be placed on the building are divided into marked and unmarked building structure. The structure is marked with a red--white or orange-white colors are changing the type and number of lighs to be used.(Refer to ICAO)

1) Marked Structure

• For the building less than 45 meters height: 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed on the top of structure at the highest point of the structure only.

H < 45m Low intensity obstruction lights should be placed on the top of structure

• • For the building less than 45 meters height which located in 3 km range from the airport: 2 MIOL-B lights should be placed on the top of structure at the highest point of the structure only.

• • For the building between 45-105 meters height: 2 MIOL-B lights should be placed on the top of structure, 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed at middle level of structure .

• • For the building between 105-150 meters height: 2 MIOL-B lights should be placed on the top of structure (4th.level), 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed at 3rd. level, 2 MIOL-B lights should be placed 2nd.level, 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed at 1st. level of structure.

• • For the building upper than 150 meters height: 2 MIOL- AB lights should be placed on the top of structure (4th.level), 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed at 3rd. level, 2 MIOL -AB lights should be placed 2nd.level, 2 LIOL-B lights should be placed at 1st. level of structure.

2) Unmarked Structure

Second parameter to determine the quantity and type of light is width of the structure according to ICAO criteria.

Type and number of lights to be used in the structure (L: Length, W: Width)

L ve W < 45m For this option extra lights should be 4 units, one light in each corner.
45m < W < 90m For this option, In addition to corners extra 1 unit light should be used at the middle of structure.
L ve W > 90m Distance between lights shoul not be upper than 45 mt.
